SNS Integration intermittently falls into failed state

Problem

SNS Integration status intermittently changes from "Active" to "Failed".

Symptoms

SNS Integration status changes to failed state even though no configuration changes occurred.  The integration show the following error message: "This integration is not reporting properly. Check the credentials and try submitting a test". 

Cause

The SNS Topic used by the SNS Integration has consecutively throttled too many times.

Resolution

Edit and save the SNS Integration configuration without making any changes.
